CIT2007 - Technology Tips and Tricks

Shortcuts for Windows Presented by: Marlene Roden Applications/Browsers/Windows F4 - activates the address bar (in IE and Window Exploreri) Ctrl L - activates the address bar (in Firefox) F3 - activates the search/find feature F11 - toggles browser to full screen Alt and F10 - activates the menu bar and allows use if toolbar is set to not display F5 - refresh/reload (Ctrl R in Firefox) Ctrl home and ctrl end - move to beginning or move to the end of the window Alt-tab - moves between open applications (with a small display window with icons) Ctrl-tab - moves between open tabs Alt-esc - moves between open applications (no display window) Alt-spacebar - display the System menu for the active window Alt-F6 - moves between open files in the same application Crtl D/B - Favorites and Bookmarks Ctl-N - open new window Ctrl F4 - close a file Alt F4 - close the application Ctrl U - view source Ctrl-Enter - to complete a URL entry (will add www and com) Double click title bar - toggles between restore and maximize for the window File Management F2 - rename a file F12 - save as ctrl drag shift drag alt drag Working with Windows Window M, D - minimize all open windows and display the desktop Window E - open Windows Explorer Window R - activates the Run area for command line entry Window L - locks your computers Various Functions Rt click button - to the right of the spacebar (between the Ctrl and Window key) Group files in the same application - right click on taskbar>properties>group similar taskbar buttons Skip the recycle bin when deleting a file - hold down the Shift key and then press delete Save All and Close All - Hold down Shift with File menu item Magnifier - Start>programs>Accessories>Accessibity For more: View the complete list of Windows shortcuts at support.microsoft.com/kb/301583
